So I’m sitting at the Mc Donalds in Pana, IL. How am I online? I’m not. Just chillin with my laptop, and figured I could post this later but the ole’ copy/paste routine. Anyways, here are a few things I’ve learned/been reminded of recently:
1. As much as kids love McDonalds, so do senior citizens. I wonder when they’ll start making Happy Meals including denture cleaning utensils.
2. BURPO really is a gift, and anyone would be envious that we all keep in touch with each other as much as we do. Good friends become less and less common after college, which stinks.
3. Good friends don’t HAVE to become less common after college. Thanks to my wife, I’m realizing I can become really good friends even with guys I originally had nothing in common with. As with anything in life, friendships mainly take commitment and purposely working on them.
4. Speaking of my wife, I love her. She needs to hear it, see it, and experience it more. Same with our love for God, it means nothing if it’s not lived out in who we are, and what we do. I used to do sappy things and write poems and what-not. These days I think doing the dishes is romantic. Once in a while I think she needs to hit me with a bat, and remind me or what I did when we were dating.
5. God will never stop teaching us, as long as we never stop seeking to learn, and sometimes even in spite of our stopping.
6. Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy really makes for a good movie. I’m glad it wasn’t acted out by Americans. I’m pretty sure that any comedy these days should be acted out by the Brits, or at least someone with a fake British accent. They can say anything and I’ll laugh.
7. Women shouldn’t cuss. Or smoke. Men shouldn’t either, but when women do it….man it’s gross and ugly. Am I sexist?
8. People who are proud to play the bagpipes still exist.
9. People who fish in a mud puddle of a pond in Pana, Illinois really should not be surprised when all they catch is a sunfish.
10. A decomposing body is eaten from the inside out, and often times the gasses produced by the organisms doing the eating build up so much that it bursts the corpse open, making a BURP. Caskets are built to allow bodies to burp.
11. We really are too desensitized.
Anyways, as you can see I’ve been learning quite a bit lately. I’m looking forward to everything I’ve yet to learn (and forget) in this lifetime. If you’re looking for an update, I’m still working in Radio, and also a Youth Pastor for Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Decatur, IL. I’m not at the point yet where I’m regularly teaching/preaching…..but I’m hopefully heading that direction. I feel like a runner or an athlete, just watching the Olympics from the stands with casts over both legs. I can’t wait to get back out there and teach/preach some more!!:) Sarah’s doing well, and loving working at the daycare. Holding babies all day long. What a job.
Also, I’m praying/interviewing/moving towards a job change. Don’t tell my boss, I don’t think they would like that I’m leaving. But I just can’t afford to stay working in radio…it doesn’t pay enough, and takes too much out of me and our Honda. ? I’ll let you know more as information becomes available!!!
For now, peace out…much love..and God bless you all!!!
