Syrup

So often, without thinking….we’ve gone the route of Mrs. Butterworth, or Log Cabin. These are worthy opponents of each other, clashing for a place in my shopping cart. But this is only due to the fact that I turn away from an entire world of true syrup based on price. No more.

How often do you have waffles? Real waffles…the kind you use a wafflemaker to make, not a toaster. This past week alone, I’ve had them 3 times. Syrup intake of these amounts bring the shortcomings of Mrs. Butterworth out into the open, where they must be confronted. Normally, I try to flavor my attitude towards those lacking like that of Christ. Grace, and mercy, and a view from God’s perspective will usually bring everyone to the same level of need. This has not been the case with Mrs. Butterworth.

Vermont has way too much to offer to be neglected anymore. 100% pure. Whether you prefer Vermont Fancy, Medium Amber, Dark Amber, or Grade B Dark….from the bottle or from the can, this stuff knocks the knickers off of Mrs. Butterworth, leaving her gasping for breath, and in desperate need to conquer at least one more pancake. Does she have room in my cabinet? Just barely. So far she still has my wife fooled into accepting her as maple goodness. But it won’t take long for Truth to take hold of the situation, and Mrs. Butterworth will be no more.

My recommendation to you? Go for pure. Michigan, Vermont, or any other maple-oriented state. But go pure. Where to get it? Cracker Barrell…order any breakfast item, and they give you a bottle of 100% Maple Syrup. Ask for as many extra bottles as possible, and pocket them…it’s liquid gold!!!!

As for stores….most stores actually have it. Don’t go for the thick stuff….the thinner the liquid, the less it’s messed with. TJ Maxx has a good sampler for like 6 bucks. I’m starting with Vermont Fancy, and working my way down to Grade B Dark. This morning was a light amber color, with a delicate maple bouquet. The taste was a delightfully mild maple flavor; which would be excellent on ice cream or on foods which permit it’s subtle flavor to be appreciated.

I won’t even go into the Spiritual Applications written all over this blog. It’s painfully obvious. Mrs. Butterworth, I will not apologize. Prepare to be ousted.

So I thought it’d be fun to take you each with me for our ultrasound today. Then I realized I almost passed out when it was just 5 of us in the small room. So it may be safer to just talk about it on here, and give you a window into my thoughts.

It’s the morning of the day we find out the sex of our baby. In many ways, as I think about it….our baby is born today. Now I realize I won’t be able hold the baby, see the baby, or have to change it’s diaper. But today, the identity of our baby takes a giant leap forward.

I know u’ll all be really excited to find out what it is….and who it is. Know that I probably won’t post it on here for a few days….because this would be a stinky way for my family to find out. We’ll make sure our family all knows before we announce it to the world. If you wanna know really bad….just call us….and promise not to tell anyone else yet. 🙂 Thanks.

So yeah….I’m really looking forward to it. Part of me feels like I should do some fatherly/husbandy “thing”….but I have no idea what I could do. Have candy cigars ready to go? Hire a singing telegram? Flowers are always an easy choice….maybe I’ll try that route. So yeah, at 4:30 this evening we will be finding out just who will be joining us on the Anderson’s life journey. Shivers anyone?

A prayer:
Father, thank you already for the joys these past few months have brought us. Although only my wife is pregnant, we are both pregnant with anticipation for what lies ahead. There are a LOT of unknowns. And that’s okay. We know that whatever lies ahead, there will be plenty of opportunities to serve you, and for you to be praised. Be with us and our child today, as we take a big step forward in knowing this child you’ve given us. Please continue to prepare our hearts and our home for this addition…and give us greater understanding of your love for your children. Thank you for our friends and family who may read this and share in our excitement. We are blessed. Oh, and help me (Chadwick) to not pass out at the ultrasound. Amen

Okay everyone….that’s it for now! I will post after we tell everyone in the family!!! Have a great week, and wait patiently!!!! 🙂 GOD BLESS!!!!!
