God is good.

What a week it’s been!  Missed a couple more days because of tonsillitis….the stupid things are huge, but finally goin’ down.  Someday I hope to be rid of them, but for now, we just continue to fight them whenever they get rebellious.  I also inherited a pretty big client list at work this week….over 50 businesses to meet/service each week.  I helped write my first radio commercial!!  Whoo hoo!!  hehe

I’m also officially moving towards working part-time with Trinity Church of the Nazarene….I can’t wait.  I’ve been missing you teens from Iowa like crazy. Wondering what you’re doing…how you’re doing…what God’s doing…etc.  I’ll probably shoot u out an e-mail soon.  But I know a big portion of that is also just missing having a group of teens to care for/work with on a daily basis.  I’m looking forward to meeting them/them meeting us, getting to know and hangin’ with them.

Justin and Becky are able to hang with us this weekend, which is nice.  The girls will probably do some shopping (hopefully limited), and us guys will sit around and….well……play X-box or talk about how the NHL lock out stinks butt….or whatever.  Sidenote….if you’re a hockey fan who’s as sad as I am about no hockey right now, hit www.hockeyribbon.com . It’s a great way to show your support, and make some guy in New York rich at the same time.  I know it’s tough right now…with March Madness…etc.  This is when the Stanley season would be about to begin….thus, I know NOTHING about basketball.  It really stinks.  No other sport matters.  Lord, bring back the NHL. Amen.

Anyways, I hope you’re all having a great weekend, and making plans for Easter next weekend.  Looks like we may end up visiting my family in Michigan for Easter…..that’ll be nice.  It’s been too long, and with starting to work for the church here, my weekends will once again be occupied soon.  So we figured it’s as good a time as any.

Well, have a great week, and know that God is vehemently pursuing you, and romancing you, just trying to get you to love Him.  Look for the little things, try to surprise God this week….the way a guy tries to surprise a girl he’s trying to win over.  Show Him you Love Him in a new way.  God bless you.

So the other night I dreamed that BURPO and I traveled across America, speaking in Middle school assemblies on why students should pursue a college education.  It was fantastic, right down to the BURPO hoodies we all wore.  See www.burpo.org for all the reasons this dream makes perfect sense.  God bless….:)

“..a little less like agreeing with a long list of statements, and a little more like falling in love…” – Donald Miller, on what Christianity really is

What a great book, and a great time to be reading it.  I was able to spend 2 hours at Panera this morning, finally.  I hope this to become a saturday morning ritual, cause man I liked it.  And this book really is great.  It’s got romance, humor, violence, nudity….everything that makes a great book about God.  Nothing so incredibly profound that I need to write it all down because it’s the greatest revelation I’ve ever read about a new way to interpret scripture.  And yet, some of the most beautiful pictures painted about the Love God has for His favorite creation….US.  So many great things to chew on mentally/spiritually/emotionally.  I recommend Donald Miller to anyone who has become bored with Christianity, sick of the mundane, routine God.  Sick of the Sunday morning, wednesday night, prayers before bed and dinner God.  Sick of the “help me when I need you”, and that’s about it God.  Sick of the God that we created as opposed to the God that Created us.  And so, in essence…don’t feel bad.  You’re not sick of God at all.  You’re sick of images of God we’ve created.  Why?  Because when WE create them, they’re boring.  Miller reminds us of the God who SPOKE us into existence.  Who mystified and frightened early believers to the point of needing a rope tied around their waist in case they were incapacitated by His Absolute Other-ness.  God.

And romance….wow.  To relate every aspect possible of romance and love, even as mushy as we can think of it….to God, and to our relationship with Him.  To think of God as trying to “romance” His creation, and our worship is romance in return….it’s a beautiful picture.  One that threatens my masculinity….but why?  Who cares, right?  I was created to be romanced by my creator, and to respond accordingly.:)  It’s a good thing…and it’s to be experienced in community.

Anyways, needless to say I’ve had a great morning, and am ready for the day.  I need more mornings like this morning.  I think most of us do.:)  Love God, Love Others…..take time to be romanced.  God bless.
