Isaiah 42:14-21

When God moves, we tell each other
It blesses our hearts straight through
You can see people raise hands in worship
And know He’s starting something New

The quiet might get all revved up
The mute may shout “Amen!”
Then we will go home and wait
For God to show up again.

But Isaiah reminds us
When God is truly on the move
He will not hide the evidence
And there will be no need to prove

He lays waste to mountains
And dries up all the pools
He takes all human wisdom
And makes them look like fools

What used to seem like darkness
Becomes a light to guide
There will not be any secret place
That is safe enough to hide

Those who trust in man-made things
Or find their peace in self
Recognize how blind you are
And how pitiful – your wealth.

Compared to what God is doing
And invites us to join His song,
He’s given us His Spirit
And all Heaven sings along…

Isaiah 59:9-19

He saw there was no justice
Our lives were in despair
His children lived in darkness
And He could not leave us there

We stumbled around blindly
We made only animal sounds
There was no one among us
Who could turn everything around

His loved moved Him to action
Salvation on our behalf
To those who stood for injustice
They were forced to face His wrath

Light for those in darkness
Living Word for those who groan,
As Jesus, our redeemer
Gave His life and gained the throne.

We watch with admiration
His loving sacrifice we see
And through our grateful worship
We hear Him say “follow me”.

Step boldly into injustice
On behalf of those without a voice
I’ve given you my own heart
But you’ll still need to make a choice

Know that I am with you,
The source of all you need.
It’s not your job to break the chains
Simply announce – they have been freed.

1 Samuel 15:32-34

A difficult passage of scripture
Only a few short verses long
It won’t inspire much poetry
And wouldn’t make for a song

Saul disobeyed an order
And left Agag alive
The leader of Gods enemies
Still had a chance to thrive

Agag led people against Israel
On more than one occasion
He stood in the way of God revealed
Through a called out nation

God had given a response
For all Agag represented-
In order for the world to see Gods’ Love
Agag needed to be ended

What are the things we’re allowing
That God would command to die?
What keeps the world from seeing Him
When they see you and I?

So often we allow small things
Proclaiming Jesus is still Lord
But look, here comes Samuel now
Wielding the prophets’ sword…
