Psalm 1

Psalm 1

Blessed are those who know Your Word
The Way You’ve died to reveal
Happy are these who, by such things
Become Your Will to heal

They who are not followers
Of ways the world has shown
They who bear Your Spirits’ fruit
From seeds Your Word has sown

They are like trees near water
Like solar cells near sun
Lives that soak and also proclaim
The Truth, Your Kingdom, come

Not blessed by mere proximity
But blessed as they draw in
Your present gracious Love for us
Offered again and again

Today, may I not only come
To know that You are near
May I know You as source of Life
Not only God to fear

Watch over me, Lord Jesus now
I breathe slowly, Your breath
That Love which conquered all unlove
That Life which conquers death

Mark 4:30-32

The smallest seed of faithful Love
Can grow into a forest of change
The tiniest indwelling of God Himself
The cosmos can rearrange

Lord we often measure our lives
We measure our each given days
In our best efforts we may ask ourselves
‘How much does this increase God’s praise?’

We have been making bricks for Egypt
Even after You have set us free
Seeing our value in what we produce
Instead of contented to ‘be’

You set us free from economies of measure
You flip such things downside up
The smallest drop of Your Kingdom Love
Can fill overflowing our cup

May such a Truth not squelch our desire
To live and proclaim Love revealed
Lord Jesus, we ask You, send us Your Spirit
That through us the wounded are healed

But also continue, as we live Your Love
To allow us to see with Your Heart
That we may value all, things great or small
Knowing how You complete what You start
